Astrology is so vast a scientific art that it covers all points in all departments of life. Amongst many uses to which this discipline of divine origin can be put the diagnosis and remedy of disease is perhaps the foremost. Our shastras hold the view that "Shareeramadyam khalu dharma sadhanam" i.e. the human body is the foremost instrument for moral and spiritual progress". It is therefore evident that all those sciences that help man in maintaining his health, help him in the discharge of his moral and spiritual duties, apart from enabling him to enjoy the bhogas of the earth.
The most important and at the same time the easiest way to diagnose a disease from the birth chart is as follows:
The limbs of the human system are represented by four astrological factors, viz. (a) the Sign, (b) its lord, (c) the house of the same number & (d) its lord. Let us make it more clear. Supposing in the horoscope of a person the 11th sign Aquarius is afflicted by association or aspect of Mars or Ketu. The lord of Aquarius i.e. Saturn is also similarly afflicted by Mars and/or Ketu. Again the house number 11 is also influenced by association or aspect of Mars or Ketu and lastly the lord of the 11th house , whosoever he may be, is also afflicted by Mars and/or Ketu. The leg of the native possessing the chart is sure to be subjected to injury and in case the influence of Mars & Ketu is felt by all the four factors mentioned above in a severe manner, by virtue of the high strength of the influencing malefic planets, the native is very likely to lose his leg altogether or have it amputated.
Injuries, operations and the like are covered by the influence of injury planets viz. Mars and Ketu. It is easy to find out from the horoscope whether or not a specific sign or house and their lords are influenced by the association of Mars and Ketu or by the aspect of Mars who throws its influence on the house etc. that is located 4th, 7th or 8th from Mars. Most of the astrologers of today were blissfully ignorant of the fact that Rahu and Ketu throw their malefic influence in angles similar to that used by Jupiter in his aspect. Rahu and Ketu, it must be remembered, aspect or throw their malefic influence like Jupiter, on the house, planet or sign located 5th, 7th or 9th from them. This special aspect of Rahu and Ketu is there in the Brihat Parashar Hora Sastra of Maharshi Parashar the father of Indian astrology; but due to press error etc. it did not find place in most of the standard works such as "Brihat Jatak" and Sarvarth Chintamani" etc. with the result that the astrologers declared favourable results where the results were actually to the contrary.
Before we proceed with the main theme let us add in this context that there is a most important corollary to the aspect of Rahu and Ketu which one cannot afford to neglect except to the peril of right results. This corollary has been presented by us to the Astrological world for the first time in the history of the Astrological literature. The corollary is that if Rahu or Ketu is influenced by association or aspect by malefic planet or planets. It will include in its aspect the influences not only of itself but also of the malefic planet or planets influencing it.
